O-Level Combined Science Chemistry tuition

What the exam tests
Combined Science is taken with another science, Physics or Biology, so Chemistry is only one part of what you study. The Chemistry syllabus covers the same 12 topics as Pure Chemistry:

Hardest topics. From teaching, these are the 2 my Combined students struggle with most:
- Mole concept. Every calculation question builds on it.
- Qualitative analysis. Possibly the most important chapter for the practical exam, and heavily tested in the written paper too. There are many tests and results to remember, and you have to pick the right test to identify an unknown.
Why the fundamentals matter. With 2 sciences to handle, you have less time for each one. Students who do well understand each idea first, then practise it with questions. Students who skip this will struggle to cope with 2 sciences at once. That is why my lessons start with understanding, then move to practice.
How my lessons work
1) Everyone gets asked. I ask every student the same number of questions. Each question targets that student's weak spots, so nobody gets to sit back.
2) Understand first. I use analogies and real world examples, so the idea makes sense and is easy to remember.
3) Then drill. Once a student understands, we practise similar questions again and again. This is how they pick up the free marks in exams.
4) Homework that gets done. I set homework after every class and make sure it is completed.
